Contemporary International Relations: Basic Documents

The book contains documents that are fundamental to a deep understanding of the international situation from the end of the World War II to 1987. Because of space limitations, the documents chosen do not necessarily reflect the entire range of historical documents available. Original texts are provided as much as possible. Foreign language documents are provided with an English translation. Japanese texts that are not the original have been summarized and translated into Japanese for reference only.

The editing was mainly conducted by Managing Director of the Institute and former Ambassador Mr. Tsunëaki Uëda. The documents contained in this book were collected with the cooperation of many specialists in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
